Sanders County track teams to be at Thompson Falls Invitational
<p>Students from all across Sanders County competed in a Junior High School track and field meet at Plains High School. Teams competed in events ranging from sprinting, to relay races, to the high jump.</p>
NOXON - The Red Devil Track and Field team had a week off but will compete at the Thompson Falls Invitational on Thursday at noon.
Head Coach Matt Havens expects all the athletes to do better in each of their events, explaining that some of the athletes are trying some new events, which is good experience for the younger team members.
“I expect us to do our very best no matter the meet. The team has been practicing very hard and now is the time to start showing that hard work,” said Coach Havens excited about the upcoming meets which will keep the team busy.
Coach Havens said the seniors, Neal Jopling, Taylor Tasker, Austin Tucker, Brent Wilson, Casey Chenoweth, Shelby Clark and Shay Lloyd have the highest expectations for the two upcoming track meets.
“Each of these athletes are leaders in their own way,” said Coach Havens.
Senior Brandon Piazzola will not be participating in the track meets this week.
“The track meet in Thompson Falls on Thursday is almost like home to us,” said Coach Havens. “The kids like to compete in Thompson Falls as family has a chance to come see them compete in a meet.”
The Red Devils will also head to Kellogg, ID on Saturday.
