SCCDC role for Hot Springs Clinic Project complete

| April 10, 2013 11:50 AM

THOMPSON FALLS – Jim Rexhouse, Executive Director of the Sanders County Community Development Corporation, announced today that SCCDC’s project management responsibilities for the Hot Springs Clinic Project are essentially complete, with only final close-out activities remaining.

Mr. Rexhouse explained that SCCDC developed the Community Development Block Grant Application that resulted in the core funding that allowed the clinic project to move forward.

SCCDC also served as the Environmental Certifying Organization, conducting the extensive environmental review required by federal and state law before grant funds can be accessed. In addition to day-to-day clinic project management activities, SCCDC also monitored compliance with civil rights and labor requirements.

“It’s not often that a project of this size and duration comes in under budget and ahead of schedule. All of the clinic project participants performed admirably”, Rexhouse said. “We encountered obstacles along the way, but they just served to make the project more interesting. Ultimately the clinic was placed in operation weeks before first planned with funds remaining to cover some additional unplanned activities, like finishing the rear parking lot.” Regarding SCCDC’s project management capabilities, Rexhouse commented “We possess significant project management experience in-house and have added additional staff for grant writing. We are actively looking to apply these skills to our next large project within Sanders County.” A recent on-site review of the clinic project conducted by the Montana Department of Commerce was successfully completed, with no open issues.
