All Sanders County teams compete in Thompson Falls Invitational
THOMPSON FALLS - The Plains High School girls track team won an impressive victory at the Thompson Falls Invitational track and field meet on Thursday finishing with 181 points.
Leah Thompson had two first place finishes in the discus and the shot put and Hailey Philips took first place in the 300 meter hurdles.
Demi Horton won the 1,600 meter race and Felicia Earhardt finished second as well as taking second place in the 400 meter. In other standout performances in throwing events, Kayla Holmes took second place in the discus and Carly Vonheeder placed second in the javelin.
Finishing out the strong showing from the Trotters was Nicole Rehbein winning the 100 meter dash and Kimberley Earhardt winning the 800 meter, and placing third in the 400 meter.
The boys team had strong performances from Russell Kujala finishing first in the 800 meter and third in the 1,600 meter.
In throwing events, Ben Gorham won the shot put with a toss of 46 feet 10 inches. Wyatt Winebrenner won the discus with a throw of 133 feet and 4.5 inches and placed third in the javelin.
Bransen Krebs rounded out the tough showing for the Horsemen finishing fifth in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet even.
As for the Thompson Falls Bluehawks,the team won the meet with a score of 219 points behind an impressive display from Preston Schubert, winning four events.
Schubert won the 400 meter, the 110-meter hurdles, the triple jump and the pole vault. In the pole vault, Schubert cleared 13 feet and six inches.
Dominique Holt and Logan Naegeli followed in his lead, each winning two events. Holt winning the 100 meter and the high jump, while Naegeli brought in two victories, one in the 1,600 meter and the other in the 3,200 meter.
The 400 meter relay team also brought in a first place win for the boys. The Lady Hawks placed second at the meet, behind the Trotters with a score of 92.
Hope Reid brought in two wins for the ladies in the pole vault with a height of 10 feet and she also won in the 200 meters.
Allison Vaught brought in first place in the Javelin with a score of 103 feet and 10 inches, followed closely behind by Trotter Carly VonHeeder who was short one inch.
The Savage Heat track and field team also competed at the Thompson Falls Invitational, the boys placing second in the meet with a final score of 104.
Wyatt Nagy took first place in the 200 meter hurdles with a time of 24.71 and placed in third in the 100 meter. His teammates Jarod White and Michael Gray tied for fourth.
The 1,600 meter relay team took first place with a time of 3:47.24.
Tanner Hoff took second in the javelin with a length of 134 feet and 7 inches and also took third in the high jump.
The Hot Springs girls ended with a score of 39 and a half.
Amanda Woods took third place 800 meters and 1,600 meters. Meara Schmiedbauer tied Laurel Schmiedbauer for third in the high jump with a length of four feet.
The Red Devil track and field team made the short trek to the Thompson Falls Invitational and the boys came in third with a total of 71 points.
Neal Jopling took first in the long jump with a length of 19 feet and two inches. Jopling also finished second in both the 100 and 200 meter, and took fourth in the high jump with five feet.
Austin Tucker placed second in the 110 hurdles, fourth in the javelin throw with a throw of 126 feet and 9 inches and fifth in the triple jump.
Taylor Tasker pulled in third for the triple jump with a length of 36 feet and 3/4 inch.
Brent Wilson had a second place finish in the 300 hurdles and a third place finish in the 110 hurdles.
The 400 meter relay team achieved second place with a time of 49.72.
As for the Lady Devils, the team came in last with a score of 27 points.
Shelby Clark finished third in the 300 hurdles and also took fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 28 feet and six inches.
Shay Lloyd came in right behind Clark in fifth with a length of 27 feet and 7 and a half inches.
