Superior resident safe in wake of marathon explosions

Brooke Lawrence of Superior ran the Boston Marathon on Monday and finished with a time of 3:38:25.
After finishing the race, runners are led from the finish line to receive food and water before leaving. Lawrence finished the race less than thirty minutes before the sounds of explosions rocked the finish line of the marathon – leaving three dead and over a hundred treated for injuries at the time of this report.
“My heart and prayers to everyone in Boston,” Lawrence posted on her Facebook wall. “What an awful thing to happen to such a wonderful race.”
The two explosions happened one after another four hours into the marathon. By that time most runners had finished the race – however there were still thousands running the course.
Forty-one residents of Montana ran in the race Monday, which is always held on the third Monday of April and began in 1897.
President Barack Obama addressed the press Monday night and said “we don’t yet have all the answers,” and that he had spoken with FBI Director Mueller and Secretary of Homeland Security Napolitano to begin “mobilizing the appropriate resources to investigate and respond.”
“We still don’t know who did this or why,” President Obama said. “But make no mistake – we will get to the bottom of this.”
