Mineral County Commissioners Briefs

| April 24, 2013 1:33 PM

The following briefs are from the official minutes of the April 19 meeting of the Mineral County Commissioners.

County Employee Health Insurance Decision

Sharon Patterson of the Health Insurance Committee reviewed the options suggested by the committee during their meetings and asked for a decision on the first recommendation of $717.

The group discussed and clarified the options and current coverage paid by the county for its employees and Commissioner Duane Simons suggested the first option given by the Health Insurance Committee.

Those present then discussed the reasoning behind county employees are asking to continue to fully cover health and dental insurance. Commissioner Simons made a motion for the county to pay $703 a month towards the health insurance coverage – stating that if an employee would like dental coverage it would cost them $13 a month.

Patterson asked the commissioners to once again consider paying the $717 a month and there was no second on Commissioner Simon’s motion.

Commissioner Roman Zylawy then made a motion to continue to pay the total amount for employee health insurance including dental coverage with a cap at $717 a month.

The motion was seconded by Commissioner Laurie Johnston and passed unanimously.

Senior Citizens BuildingContract Approval

Mineral County Extension Agent Kevin Chamberlain presented the contract for the construction of the St. Regis Senior Citizens Center to the county commissioners and the commissioners reviewed the presented documents.

Chamberlain then informed the commissioners that the contract had been reviewed and approved by Mineral County Attorney Marcia Boris and the total amount of the contract for the project is $396,433.60.

Commissioner Simons made a motion to approve the contract between the county and Edgel Construction for the construction of the center in St. Regis.

The motion was seconded by Commissioner Johnston and passed unanimously.
