Can you believe it’s nearly time for Melon Days, which also means the Sanders County Fair is next...and BACK TO SCHOOL! I used to dread those BTS ads which start in July, as a reminder that my long “vacation” would come to an end. It took many years before I stopped having those dreams, about a week before BTS, that I slept in, my room was moved and I couldn’t find it...and other situations to create panic. Blessings and courage to all those who start a new year with challenges and hopes of making a difference to our next generations. Times have changed!

I hear the Dixon Melons are in the stores, but I haven’t yet sampled. What a fun time in this part of W. Montana. They really put our little town on the map. For those of you who have access to Facebook on the Internet, there is a site which tells all about our special days, giving the schedule of events, some history, etc. and one of our seniors, Terry Andres, is shown on his John Deere, in the parade. See if you can access it. The event which impacts our senior center, will be the special dinner, where you get to see all the friends and neighbors you might not visit with the rest of the year.

Much appreciation for Diane Lindquist, capably filling in as cook while Diane Groh took a much-deserved break lately. She had been our cook previously and was already familiar with us and the kitchen. Our center is known for serving great meals, come join us. Meals are on Mondays at 5:30, and at noon on Thursday. The menu coming up will be:

Thurs. Aug. 22 Veggie soup and turkey sandwiches

Mon. Aug. 26 Stuffed peppers, coleslaw

Thurs. Aug. 29 Baked chicken

All ages are welcome, you can even take some home! Meals are only $4.00.

Our last pinochle scores are: Marion Sands, high scorer; May Howell came in with the lowest; Bob Cook had the most pinochles, and the Door Prize went to Anita Siebert. This traveling group meets every fourth Monday at our center--new players always welcome.

This is the season for trips and family reunions. Barbara Cripps recently enjoyed a trip to Lewiston, MT, and Roy and Delene Tufly traveled to Oregon. I was very happy to be with all four of my GRANDchildren who got together in Missoula. There’s lots of summer weather left...enjoy what pleases you.
