PLAINS - The Sanders County Fair Commission and Board of County Commissioners are proud to announce that Sally Braun of Plains has been selected as this year’s Sanders County Community Service Award recipient.

Sally has been a mainstay in the Plains Public School system for more years than she’d admit too. 32 to be exact. And has had a tremendous impact on the lives of all the youngsters who have attended public school in Plains. Her support of the students goes well beyond moral support, that of lending a sympathetic ear to a student’s troubles, or providing guidance to youngsters when needed. Financial support also has been provided like activity passes which mysteriously end up in the hands of a student who just quite couldn’t muster the funds. Sally’s role extends to being a surrogate mother to every child. Outside of the school system, she was active in Girl Scouts – a Brownie Scout leader for many years. And being very “child” oriented, for many years she ran a day care. She’s an accomplished pie maker, and if you’ve had a piece of pie at the Circle, odds are that Sally baked it. A devout Christian, Sally’s very active in her church, the Harvest Community Church of God. And she’s done all this while, basically on her own, raising six children, three of each sex just to keep a balance.
