Jennine Mae (Rummel) Robbins
THOMPSON FALLS – Jennine Mae (Rummel) Robbins went to be with the Lord on December 6, 2013 at Clark Fork Valley Hospital with her family by her side after a valiant and courageous two year battle with cancer.
She was born on December 15, 1952 to Harvey “Scoop” Rummel and Dorothy (Knabe) Rummel in Hot Springs. As an infant, she lived in Hot Springs. After her birth parents divorced, her mother married Obert Lofthus and he became the one that she always considered to be her dad. The family later moved to Plains, Eddy Flats, then Snyder, and later as a teenager, to Thompson Falls. She attended school in both Plains and Thompson Falls. She had many fond memories and stories to tell of growing up in these towns and on the Thompson River and Eddy Flats.
After finding the love of her life, she and Everett Robbins were married on June 29, 1974. They resided in Plains where she was employed at McGowan Mercantile and various other jobs and they then moved to Thompson Falls in 1985. They experienced lots of interesting things together. They commercially picked morel mushrooms for two summers in Oregon, worked three summers on Kodiak Island, Alaska round tripping the Alcan Highway three times together. While on Kodiak Island, they worked on two Coast Guard housing projects and helped build a million dollar Pizza Hut. On that project, Jennine was assigned to do the tile work on all the back counters. She was a versatile, engaging, and energetic individual who could accomplish any task she put her mind to.
She and her husband also had a construction business and each obtained a real estate broker’s license. They operated Robbins Realty for a number of years in Plains and later on in Thompson Falls on Main Street next to Minnie’s Restaurant. She decided she wanted to do something different so she applied for, and accepted, a job as clubhouse manager at River’s Bend Golf Club. She held that job for six years, then ran for and was elected as Sanders County Clerk and Recorder in the fall of 2006. She was reelected to that post again in the fall of 2010. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer in December of 2011 and resigned her post as clerk and recorder in September of this year due to failing health.
Jennine loved family first and foremost and also loved cooking and was known as an excellent cook. She loved reading, gardening, being outdoors, hunting camp, and getting firewood. She would rather be outside getting her hands in the dirt than being stuck indoors.
She is survived by her husband Everett and beloved dog “Boo” of the family home, sisters Gwen (Ron) Pirker, Penny (Mike) Allen, Tina Smith, and brothers Jim Rummel, and Ole (Peggy) Lofthus all of Thompson Falls and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great, and even some great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Dorothy Lofthus, and brother Joe Rummel.
Jennine had an engaging and energetic personality. She never met a stranger and to know her was to love her. She always told it like it was and even if you didn’t agree with her, you had to respect her. She was deeply loved by all that truly knew her and she will be forever in our hearts and memories.
Upon her wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes scattered on her favorite spot at a later date. A memorial gathering will be planned for later this next spring. Donations can be made in her name to the Sanders County Cancer Network.
