ST. REGIS – Late Friday night on December 27, an accident claimed the lives of a good Samaritan and another man on Interstate 90, approximately 12 miles west of St. Regis.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol report, the victims were a 24 year old man from Chicago, IL and a 28 year old man from Missoula, MT.

The accident involved three vehicles. Around midnight on Friday night, a semi truck crashed into the median between the I-90 traffic lanes. A passing pickup truck saw the accident and stopped to offer assistance.

However, as the pickup pulled off the road, a nearby FedEx truck lost control and ran into the other two vehicles. The driver of the pickup and one of the semis were killed in the crash.

Investigations indicated alcohol was not a factor, though speed was. The identities of the victims, and information on where the bodies were taken, were not released at the time of press.
