Both Noxon teams gain win against Hot Springs

NOXON – The Red Devils and Lady Devils both secured a win during this week of play, both losing to Arlee and defeating Hot Springs.

Both teams headed to Arlee on Thursday where they tried to fight off the Warrior squads for a win. The Red Devils came away four points short, with a final score of 48 to 52. Austin Tucker netted 21 points during the game, nine of which were in the fourth quarter. Neal Jopling brought in 13 points with Oliver Grupenhoff bringing in nine. Tyler Piazzola had three points while Brandon Piazzola added two points to the groups total.

The boys then hosted Hot Springs on their home court for the last time of the season, where home court advantage proved to be true.

Grupenhoff had the game-high with 15 points followed closely behind by Jopling with 12. Tucker put up nine points, while Brandon Piazzola had six, Tanner Tammaro had two and Brent Wilson secured a freethrow to add in the mix.

As for Hot Springs, Dave Cross had 17 points, with eight of his points happening in the first quarter. Mike Gray brought in ten points for the Savage Heat with Wyatt Nagy with five, Jimmy Holland with three, Tanner Hoff with two points and Jaden Baker with one.

The Lady Devils experienced the same trend, losing to Arlee with a score of 38 to 74. Kendall Aitken had ten points and Tierrah Camara secured eight. Shay Lloyd and McKenna Kruger bot5h had six with Shelby Clark and Brooke Smithborne both bringing in four points for the team.

The ladies’ luck turned around during the game against Hot Springs where they came out six points ahead and beat the Lady Savage Heat.

In the District 14-C game, Smithborne was the lead scorer with 11 points. Krueger had seven points with Clark with six. Casey Chenoweth brought in another five points while Aitken, Camara, and Lloyd each had three points.

As for the Lady Savage Heat, Alyssa Foster had an impressive game-high of 15 points. Laurel Schmiedbaur had six points with Meara Schmiedbaur and Rosa Dalton securing four. Josey Carr bucketed two points and Amanda Woods added in another point.

The Lady Savage Heat fell to 3-7 in conference, and 4-11 overall.
