St. Regis School District offers free online college courses to community members

| February 6, 2013 3:48 PM

Adult Education Program provides advanced learning in support of local community lifelong learning goals

Starting in October this year local community members have completed online Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC) courses for free through Saint Regis School’s Adult Education Program.

On average, four to five community members have taken advantage of this opportunity each month.

Though not for college credit these free courses provide an opportunity any community member with a high school diploma to pursue his or her higher education interests. The St. Regis School District values lifelong learning.

Here’s how the free

online courses work:

Each month FVCC offers a large variety of courses. Subjects range from business to personal development, enrichment, test prep, photography, teaching, and healthcare, among many others.

New classes start every month. A calendar of course start dates include: February 20; March 20, April 17, and May 15, 2013. New lessons are posted online every Wednesday and Friday for six weeks beginning with the start date of the course. Each course has 12 lessons, with each lesson available 24/7.

Students complete the lesson and a lesson quiz during the following week at their own time, and a final quiz at the end of the course.

Students obtain a certificate of completion if they pass the final.

Interested individuals may sign up for the free classes by phoning or emailing Christine Hodges, the adult education coordinator, at hodgesc@stregis.k12.mt.us, or coming to sign up at the Saint Regis School office one week prior to the course deadline.

Hodges approves the course tuition through the adult education budget, and notifies the participant upon its approval.

At this point, the community member visits www.ed2go.com/fvccce, completes an online orientation, and signs up for his or her course.

New classes are released monthly, with over 300 classes available.

The adult education program allows Saint Regis and surrounding area residents to take $99 classes for free!
