THOMPSON FALLS – The Bluehawks played against Noxon on Tuesday in a game that got away from them.

Head coach Chadd Laws said that for the better part of three quarters, it was a very good game.

“It was a two point game with two minutes to go in the third quarter. We ended up getting a couple of steals and transition layups and got it up to seven points,” said Coach Laws. “It was a low scoring game to begin with so it was a tough deficit to make up.”

Coach Laws knew the game against Noxon would be a battle.

“Noxon has had a great season and we knew they’d be a challenge because they have a great three-point game, a great drive game and a great post game. With that, it’s hard to defend.”

Thompson Falls fell to Noxon 38 to 51.

Derek Whittenburg and Trais Hoisington both had eight points during the game. Baptiste Seynaeve and Dominique Holt each had six points, with Caleb Bates and Dylan Vaught with three. Ryan Knutson and Ross Dalby each brought in two.

The boys then headed to Bigfork to compete against the number one team in the state of Montana.

“We really focused on trying to win the small battles. With a team of that caliber, even with the loss we did a nice job rebounding and eliminating their transition offense,” said Coach Laws.

The final score of the game was 32 to 77.

Holt shouldered 11 points, with Hoisington with six. Seynaeve and Dalby each had five with Vaught bringing in three and Tyler Bates coming in with two.

Thompson Falls will play Troy for the first round of the semi-finals. Although losing both of their previous games to the Trojans, Coach Laws hopes that all of the preparation will pay off for the one game that matters.

“We put a lot of our focus over the week and a half getting ready for Troy and preparing our team for Troy,” said Coach Laws. “We fully expect to be in a position to win that game. We’re better prepared than we were the first two times and we’re playing better basketball than last time we played them.”

The game will take place on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Troy.
