Lady Hawks and Red Devils battle for the win

THOMPSON FALLS – The Lady Devils came into Lady Hawk territory on Friday night, taking part in a heated game as the Devils tried to take out the Hawks.

The game started off with Thompson Falls’ Allison Vaught sinking in two shots from downtown, opening up the game on the right track for the Lady Hawks.

Lady Devils senior Kendall Aitken fired back bringing in some points with Casey Chenoweth also helping out.

The ladies of Thompson Falls kept the points flowing throughout the first half, stretching their lead to 21 – 8.

The third quarter kicked off with Noxon’s Brooke Smithborne bucketing a shot. Kelsey Fitchett and Logan Beckman fired back starting a slew of buckets made for Thompson Falls. Shey Hannum scored back-to-back furthering the lead.

As the Lady Devils gave it all they had, Asiah Jensen tried to get even, making shot after shot, attempting to close in the gap.

The fourth quarter started with Thompson Falls leading 35 to 14.

Aitken bucketed a shot that was matched by Beckman.

Lady Hawk Vaught came up with a beautiful shot, bringing the crowd to an uproar as the ball leaped out of the hoop and fell right back in.

The game ended with the Lady Hawks taking the win 52 to 21.

Vaught and Fitchett led Thompson Falls with 15 points a piece with Beckman trailing behind with eight. Hannum brought in four points and Angela Padden had three. Viktoria Szucsan, Makala Dalke, and Baylor Anderson each had two points with Hope Reid bringing in a free-throw.

For Noxon, Smithborne bucketed five shots while Aitken, Shelby Clark, and Asiah Jensen had four points. McKenna Krueger and Chenoweth each added in two points to the team’s total.

The Lady Hawks fell to Bigfork 58 to 43 on Saturday while Noxon lost to Superior 57 to 38.

The Lady Hawks will play Plains on Thursday at Thompson Falls for the first round of semi-finals while the Noxon ladies will face off with Hot Springs at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday.
