The Alberton Lady Panther basketball team finished the regular season up this week with two tough loses against Valley Christian and Darby.

According to Head Coach Jim Baldwin, poor shooting and “less than stellar” ball handling “doomed” the Lady Panthers during both games.

“Lack of hustle was not a problem, but when the ball is not going through the hole it makes things difficult,” Coach Baldwin said.

Despite the rough finish to the regular season, Coach Baldwin has high hopes for the upcoming district tournament in Frenchtown over the weekend.

“We will enter the tourney with our heads high and give it all we have,” Coach Baldwin said. “Everyone is starting the season all over again and everyone is undefeated.”

Coach Baldwin said he hopes his squad’s shooting will come back strong and said the Lady Panthers will give Drummond a “tussle” from the start.

“The girls know they can play better than they did last week and will be out to prove to themselves they are a good team,” Coach Baldwin said. “Hopefully everyone will come out and support our team at the district tourney.”

Tip-off against Drummond is at 6:00 pm in Frenchtown.
