Lady Bobcats punch their ticket to divisional tournament

The Superior Lady Bobcats started their District 14-C Tournament campaign strong on Thursday against Two Eagle River.

Led by the efforts of senior Nicole Stroot, the Lady Bobcats put on an offensive clinic against Two Eagle and cruised into the semifinals of the tournament.

Stroot had 17-points and six rebounds in the victory, followed by sophomore Jordan Mueller with 13-points and five rebounds. Senior Myranda Kuhl had 10-points.

Superior won 52-18.

On Friday against St. Regis, the Lady Bobcats once again has a strong offensive showing and were able to take out their scrappy cross county rivals.

Stroot and Mueller took charge and put up 19 and 17-points respectively for the Lady Bobcats,

Freshmen Danielle Ewoniuk had eight points in the victory and fellow freshmen Marissa Koke had seven.

The Lady Bobcats beat the Tigers 59-43, clinching a spot in this week’s divisional tournament in Hamilton and setting up a district championship match against Arlee.

In the championship game, the Lady Bobcats came out trading blows with the Scarlets, Going into halftime, Superior led 19-18 and continued to battle with Arlee through the third.

Entering the fourth quarter of play the Lady Bobcats had a two point lead however the tough Arlee squad battled back and was able to wrestle the win from Superior.

Arlee won 56-44.

Stroot led the Lady Bobcats with 18-points and seven rebounds followed by Mueller who put up nine.

The Lady Bobcats will head to Hamilto this week as they continue their postseason.
