Thompson Falls teams go to Divisional Tourney

KALISPELL – The basketball teams of Thompson Falls both played in the Divisional Tournament this last week, coming to a seasons end.

The Lady Hawks played Plains on Thursday in a loser out game, defeating the Trotters 47 to 42, securing their spot in the tournament.

Thompson Falls improved to 12 to 10.

Logan Beckman led the ladies with 18 points while Allison Vaught had 13 points and Kelsey Fitchett had eight. Hope Reid and Shey Hannum both brought in four points.

After their win, the ladies went off to face Loyola, losing the game 36 to 53 and ending their tournament run.

Beckman had 13 points with Vaught coming in with eight. Fitchett had seven points, Hannum brought in six and Reid had two points for the girls.

The Lady Hawks ended their season 12 to 11.

As for the Bluehawks, the boys met their match also falling short to Loyola on Thursday, losing 35 to 68.

Baptiste Seynaeve had eleven points, Trais Hoisington had ten and Ross Dalby had five. Tanner Laws had three points and Derek Whittenburg, Ryan Knutson and Greg Wadsworth each had two points.

“We started off really well. We were down 12 to 11 in the first quarter and (Loyola) went on a 19 to 6 run. We couldn’t make up the difference after that,” said head coach Chadd Laws.

After the game against Loyola, the boys played Mission in a loser-out game where they lost 29 to 63.

Tyler Bates and Dalby each had six points while Dominique Holt brought in five. Caleb Bates and Seynaeve both had four points Seynaeve and Whittenberg and Knutson had two.

“We didn’t play our best ball of the season. I thought we played very hard but the teams we played, played better basketball then we did,” said coach Laws.
