KALISPELL - The Trotters traveled to Flathead High School last Wednesday for a chance to rank at Divisionals, but sadly, came home without a win. However, the girls still learned from their play and the young team vows to go back stronger, next year.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Trotters went up against Deer Lodge and were defeated by the Lady Wardens, 51-40.

The Trotters trailed the Lady Wardens by one point in the first quarter, keeping up with the game’s fast pace. However, in the second quarter, the Lady Wardens went out strong and scored 13 points alone in the quarter, while the Trotters scored none. Coming into the second half of the game, the Trotters mustered some scoring plays, netting 19 points in the third quarter. Felicia Earhart led the Trotters in scoring with 17 points, 12 of which were from her three-pointers. Hailey Phillips and Jessica Hansen also contributed three-pointers to the game. But the efforts weren’t enough and the Lady Wardens ended up taking it, and the Trotters had to move on to the loser-out game, against none other than their county rival, the Thompson Falls Lady Hawks.

In the game against the Lady Hawks, the Trotters started off leading the Lady Hawks in the first quarter, 11-8. They soon came to a tie going into the halftime, 18-18. The Trotters outscored the Lady Hawks in the third, posting nine over their eight, but then the fourth quarter sealed the deal for the Lady Hawks as they soon clenched control of the scoreboard, out-scoring the Trotters in the fourth, 21 points to 15. The Lady Hawks won, the final score being 47-42 over the Trotters. Kayla Holmes led the Trotters in scoring, with eight points. The Trotters finished their 2012-2013 season at 10-12.
