PLAINS - The Plains Horsemen and Trotters basketball teams hosted Deer Lodge squads the weekend before last prior to the holiday, and after hard-fought battles, neither pulled out a win.

For the Horsemen, they took on a hard-hitting squad that kept the ball running and three-pointers sinking. The Horsemen tried to answer back in the first half, led by the efforts of Kyle Revier and Jeremiah Crawford; however, the Wardens ran away with it and didn’t look back.

Horsemen higlights included a fairly nice steal-and-fastbreak by freshman Trent Brouillette, and some awesome rebounds by Crawford.

Revier led the Horsemen in points with 12, followed by Crawford with nine; Jon Baker also put in nine, while Dallas Burgess had eight, Wyatt Winebrenner and Trent Brouillette each had five, while Aaron Baker had four.

For the Trotters, the pendulum almost made a swing for their suceess, until the second quarter. The Trotters could not muster a more aggressive offense to match the Lady Wardens pressing defense that took the ball their way. Couple that with a few key players experiencing flu-like symptoms, the Trotters were hurting but still had a few bright plays in the mix. Top scorer for the Trotters was Hailey Phillips, with eight points.
