THOMPSON FALLS - It was a short, but very sweet swearing-in ceremony on Thursday, three recently-elected officials were celebrated.

County Commissioner Carol Brooker, Public Administrator Beth Rice-Groshong, and District Clerk of Court Candace Fisher were all honored by friends, family and county officials in the Commissioner’s conference room on a snowy afternoon.

Brooker was first elected as County Commissioner for District 1 in 1994, while Fisher and Rice-Groshong have not taken public office before this election season.

Commissioner Tony Cox swore the ladies in, and soon after cake and punch were served to guests and officials.

“In two years, this ceremony will be a lot bigger,” Commissioner Cox said. “There will be the sheriff, the treasurer, a commissioner, and a lot more officials that will be elected. We will hold it in the courtroom upstairs. But today was a nice ceremony.”
