Superior Wrestling Coach Charlie Crabb called the Rocky Mountain Classic tournament in Missoula a “meat grinder.”

The tournament, which took place over the weekend in Missoula, features wrestlers from three states and Coach Crabb said there is “little margin for error.”

“I liked the fact that our kids went out and competed very well,” Coach Crabb said.

In the 105-pound weight class, Anthony Parkin placed fifth and was the only of four Superior wrestlers to place in the tournament.

“Anthony lost to really close matches that could have gone either way,” Coach Crabb said.

Bridger LaPierre went 2-2 on Friday and then 4-0 on Saturday at the John Fischer Tournament at Missoula Big Sky. River Sides went 2-2 on Friday and 0-2 on Saturday.

Kenny Stockard had to wrestle up a weight class to enter the tournament and went 0-2 on Friday and 1-1 on Saturday.   “Bridger wrestled very well losing out Friday night in two very close matches,” Coach Crabb said.

“River also wrestled tough his best match was his last loss of Friday putting him out of the tournament. Kenny did the best he could having to wrestle up a weight class just to get him in the tournament.”

On the season Parkin has a record of 20-5, LaPierre is 25-11 and Coach Crabb said “all of his losses have been really close matches.” Sides started the season late but is even at 8-8 and Stockard is 4-8.

“As for as what we need to work on for the rest of the year would be to keep improving and recognize scoring situations, limit mistakes, and to keep pushing ourselves so we are at our best for the divisional and state tournaments,” Coach Crabb said.

“They are all working very hard and should do well in the coming weeks.”
