THOMPSON FALLS – The Lady Hawks secured two wins over the past week, and hope to gain yet another win on Thursday against Florence on their home turf.

The girls clashed with Libby on Friday, coming out with a 42-29 victory.

The ladies started off right in the first quarter, ending the period with a 13-7 lead against the Loggers.

Kelsey Fitchett put the first two points on the scoreboard after successfully netting two freethrows. Thompson Falls was up by six points when Libby notched their first points onto the scoreboard.

Allison Vaught was on fire and netted a flawless three-point shot early on. With less than two minutes left, Fitchett ended the first quarter, adding two more points onto the team’s score.

The second quarter was kicked off by Hope Reid who bucketed a shot. The Libby Loggers retaliated, netting two shots and trailed behind by four points.

Vaught threw in another three-pointer extending the lead to 18-11.

In the third quarter, the Lady Hawks were ahead 20-13, yet again netting the first basket of the quarter by Logan Beckman.

In the heat of the moment, the Lady Hawks were up for a freethrow, coming up short. However, Reid swooped in and scored more points off of the rebound.

Thompson Falls continued onto the fourth quarter with not a worry in their mind, up by twelve points. As the Loggers fought back with passion, the Lady Hawks continued to score points extending their lead even further and ending the game ahead by 13 points.

Head coach Jason Reimer said the girls head into every game with a positive outlook and a win in  mind.

“It was good to come out on top of that game,” said Reimer.

Kelsey Fitchett led the team with 16 points. Allison Vaught and Hope Reid both netted eight points, with Logan Beckman gaining another six points. Madison Fitchett added four points to the Lady Hawks total.

Against Bigfork on Saturday, the ladies pulled ahead yet again, winning 48-30.

Beckman secured 18 points, with Reid adding 11. Vaught netted nine points and Kelsey Fitchett and Angela Padden both added five points.

“We played two good defensive games this weekend,” said Coach Reimer.

The Lady Hawks will face Florence on Thursday, hopefully coming up with another win.

“We have to be able to handle the full court press and if we do handle full court press, we’ll be able to come out on top,” said Coach Reimer.

The game will take place at 7 p.m. in Thompson Falls.
