Louis Johnston

Louis Johnston, born on October 21, 1929, passed away on January 16, 2013 at the Oak Creek Rehabilitation Center in Kimberly, Idaho. Louie was 83 years old. He was a long time resident of Plains, Montana where he had many friends.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marie Johnston, Sister Ruth and brothers Jim and Ed. he leaves behind one sister Punky in CA, a daughter Claudia Dohner in Blanco, TX and two sons Louis (Roc) of Plains, MT and Todd in Hayden, ID. He also had several grandchildren Nicole, Brooke, Erin, Dustin, Hillary, Melissa and Joshua. He also had numerous other great-grandchildren, family members and friends.

Louis was very proud of his mining history, which he entered at a young age starting in the coal mines of Wyoming. He then moved to North Idaho to work in the silver mines. He also traveled to other locations including New Mexico, Colorado and Nevada where he worked at the Nevada Nuclear Test Site in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Louis had an active life; he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed his trips to Alaska where he hunted for Caribou and fished for salmon and halibut with his nephew James (Bobie) Davis. Louis would also invite his friends and family along for the adventure. At the age of 80 he would still deer hunt and cut firewood at his home in Plains, MT.

Services will be held in Plains, MT. Time and place have not been determined at this time. Everyone who knew Louis is invited to come.
