THOMPSON FALLS – The Bluehawk wrestlers saw success at the Ted Kato tournament on Saturday placing second out of 13 teams total.

Thompson Falls had seven placers: At 98 lbs, Lena Babcock took second place; at 140 lbs. John Gunderson took first; at 152 lbs. Kyle Milner took fourth place; at 160 lbs. Jake Nygaard took third; at 171 lbs Davis Lawson took second; at 189 lbs John Garrahy took second; and in the heavy weight division Braxton Eubanks took second.

This weekend the Bluehawks will be hosting a mix and match Quad where the wrestlers will get more experience under their belts.

From there, Thompson Falls is headed to Darby for what head coach Colby Cline says will be a tough tournament.

With numerous Class A teams participating in the tournament, the competition will be hard.

“The competition will be a little tougher this weekend. There’s less teams (in the tournament) so it’s hard to say where we’ll end up. I think we’ll do well,” said Coach Cline.

According to Coach Cline, the Bluehawks are not focusing on anything new in practice, they are busy fine-tuning their techniques.

“We’re making sure our conditioning is where we need it to be for the divisional,” said Coach Cline.

As of now, things are looking good for the divisional tournament. Two weekends ago, the Bluehawks went to the Choteau Classic placing four wrestlers, the most Thompson Falls has seen in a while in that tournament.

“It was the toughest Class B tournament in the state despite state championships,” said Coach Cline.
