Bluehawks fall to Superior, Troy

THOMPSON FALLS – The Bluehawks traveled to Superior on Thursday to take on the Bobcats in a nonconference game.

The Bobcats took the win with a final score of 52-37.

Tanner Laws scored 13 points, Baptiste Seynaeve had six with Derek Whittenburg and Tyler Bates followed behind with five. Trais Hoisington had four points and Ross Dalby and Greg Wadsworth both brought in two.

During the home game against Troy, the boys fought long and hard keeping up with the Trojans until the fourth quarter.

In the first quarter, the Bluehawks trailed behind by two until the clock struck three minutes left. Whittenburg made a freethrow and Seynaeve swooped in and scored off of the rebound adding another two points onto the score. Bates tied up the game, 7 to 7, where Troy continued to make three pointers into the basket. Seynaeve helped to bring the score up to 9 to 14 at the sound of the buzzer with a beautiful basket.

The second quarter started off with a free throw from Troy. Laws brought in some points, basketing a shot. Hoisington and Dalby continued to score in a jam-packed quarter. The heated game allowed the Trojans to make multiple freethrows, slowly increasing their lead.

The second quarter ended with Thompson Falls trailing by eight.

The Bluehawks managed to close in that gap during the third, ending the quarter just four points behind the Trojans.

Dalby started the quarter off strong with a basket and was helped out by Laws who secured a three-pointer. Troy matched the Bluehawks with a returned three-pointer, evening out the score once again.

In the fourth quarter, Thompson Falls played hard to catch up to the Trojans, starting off with a score of 34 to 38.

Laws came in with another three-pointer with less than two minutes left in the game. Dalby bucketed a shot and Seynaeve also put up a point as the clock ticked down.

Dalby ended the match with another shot, helping to bring the final score to 48 to 56.

The Bluehawks will face off Plains on Thursday on their home turf.
