Panthers continue to fight hard

The Alberton Lady Panther basketball squad lost two hard fought conference games last week against Lincoln and Seeley.

On Friday, the Lady Panthers played host to the Lincoln Lynx and while the Lynx built up an early lead – the Panthers never stopped fighting and chipping away.

“The Panthers never gave up cutting the lead to five in the third before falling by ten,” Lady Panther Head Coach Jim Baldwin said. “For the game I felt we played good defense but struggled from the field and with Lincoln’s press.”

Coach Baldwin mentioned the efforts of Ryan Vicek, who led the Lady Panthers with nine-points as well as Taylor Erdman who contributed six.

“The last time we played Lincoln we trailed by 32 going into the last quarter and this time it was 10,” Coach Baldwin said. “The girls continue to improve and work hard from start to the finish.”

On Saturday, Alberton travelled to Seeley to face off against their league leading girls squad.

“All I can say about that game is playing tough teams will make you better in the end,” Coach Baldwin said.

Alberton lost 47-13 and were led by Vicek and Delani Hanley who each had four-points.

The Panthers travel to Drummond on Friday and host Victor on Saturday.

“Hopefully fans will turn out and support the girls,” Coach Baldwin said. “It would be greatly appreciated.”
