HOT SPRINGS - The Savage Heat had a tough weekend on the court as they faced and were defeated by both Seeley-Swan and Superior, and one of those games was a loss by just one basket.

On Friday at home, the Savage Heat hosted Seeley-Swan and the game was more of a battle.

The Savage Heat came on strong, and led the first quarter, 14-7. Seniors Mike Gray and Dave Cross had aggressive showings in points, and it seemed the pace set would remain. Until the second quarter. Seeley-Swan came into the second quarter with a renewed strength, and posted 20 points to the board. Hot Springs put up only six. Senior Wyatt Nagy continued to put points in, but Seeley-Swan had already taken the lead, and by the time the buzzer sounded for halftime, the score stood at 20-27, Seeley-Swan.

Into the second half, Hot Springs made a valiant effort and came back, scroing more points in both the third and fourth quarters than Seeley-Swan; however, it was not enough to make up for the mistakes from the second quarter. The Savage Heat came up short, losing by just one basket, 43-45. Leading scorer for the Savage Heat was Dave Cross with 17 points, followed by Wyatt Nagy with 15.

On Saturday, the Savage Heat traveled to Superior for a shot at revenge over the Bobcats. The game was close, but no cigar, and the boys fell to Superior, 51-67.

Up next for the Savage Heat will be Noxon on Friday, then they will host Plains on Saturday.
