At the January meeting of the St. Regis Community Council, it was reported the Christmas Bazaar was “another success.”

According to Community Council Secretary Glenn Koepke, the community center was “filled with vendors and exhibits and some good food was served.”

Koepke also mentioned the winners of the annual holiday decorating contest with first place going to Jeff Taylor and John Tomes. Second place was Duane and Donna Simons and third went to the Martin family.

Honorable mention went to Bob and Joan Carroll, Roger and Linda McLinden and Marie-Chase Bibler.

“Thanks to all the judges and residents for participating,” Koepke said.

Koepke also mentioned the St. Regis New Year’s party was well attended, with about 80 attendees and “plenty of food, fun, prizes and music.”

“Thanks again to the volunteers,” Koepke said.

The St. Regis Community Council also recently purchased a storage building for the community center in order to save on rented storage. Koepke thanked Noonan Construction for helping with the project.

“The annual community service scholarship for high school seniors scheduled to graduate is being announced,” Koepke said. “Any past St. Regis graduates continuing their education can also apply.”

For additional information on the scholarship or to apply, Koepke said to contact St. Regis School Counselor Byron Quinlan.

The next event hosted by the St. Regis Community Council will be the St. Patrick’s Day supper and dance on March 16 in the community center.

“Corned beef and cabbage will be provided and attendees are asked to bring dishes to share,” Koepke said. “Easter arrives early this year so the annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday March 30 in the community park. Wish for sun.”
