Cabin Fever Quilters show looks at places in the heart

| July 8, 2013 8:45 AM

“Places in the Heart” will be the thirteenth annual quilt show held by the Cabin Fever Quilters of Mineral County, Montana on Friday and Saturday, August 2 and 3.

Held in conjunction with the Mineral County Fair in Superior, Montana, the show exhibits quilts made by local quilters employing a wide variety of techniques. The 2013 guild round robin quilts and the 2013 Mystery quilts will be on display. There will be a display of service quilts made by the guild to be given away.

The hours for the show are 10:00 am to 6:00 pm each day in the multipurpose room of Superior High School.

Mineral and Sanders County residents are invited to enter homemade quilts in the Cabin Fever Quilters’ show.

We encourage quilters of all ages and abilities to enter the show.

Quilted items can be any size and either hand or machine quilted.

The guild asks that you pre-register your quilt by July 27 in order to enter. There is a limit of 2 quilts per non member. Entry forms are found at the MSU extension office in Superior, The Quilting House in Thompson Falls and Mary Anne’s Fabric in Plains, or you can contact quilt registration chairman Mary Burrows at 406-649-4833.

The featured quilter will be Nicola Clyde of St. Regis, Montana. Nicki first sewed with her grandmother and later improved her skills in 4-H.

She continues her life-long love affair with fabric through her quilt-making and sharing with fellow quilters.

A quilt will be raffled called “Places of the Heart”. The quilt is a pieced and appliquéd quilt depicting buildings, places, and activities in Mineral County.

The beneficiary of the raffle is the Pioneer Council of Mineral County to support their bus service.

Tickets are available at Mineral County events and from Guild members. The winner will be announced August 3 at 6:00 pm.

Visitors to the quilt show will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite quilts, shop at a boutique of handmade quilted items and crafts, win a raffle basket of quilting and sewing supplies, and win door prizes. The vendors include Mary Anne’s Fabric of Plains and Sew Happy Quilts of Bozeman.
