Hunters Education course to take place this month in Superior

A Montana Fish, Wildlife and, Parks Hunter Education course will be offered this month in Superior at the junior high school and fairgrounds. The five nightly classes take place from 6 to 9 p.m., July 22 through July 26 at the junior high. Saturday’s session (July 27), is from 9 am to 4 pm during which a field course, live firing, and the final test are administered. Lunches are advised for Saturday. Class requirements, rules, and registration are finalized at the mandatory orientation on Monday, July 15 at 7 pm at the 4-H building (Mineral County fairgrounds).

The course includes instruction on safe firearm handling, hunting laws and regulations, hunter responsibility and conduct, and wildlife identification and management. All who wish to take the weeklong course must pre-register on-line at the Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks, Region 2, web site under “education”. Students/parent(s) must bring the on-line registration information to orientation. Student materials are distributed at orientation and homework assigned for completion prior to the first class on July 22.

Hunter Education classes are offered by Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks free of charge and are required for any youth (age 11 and up) or young adult wishing to purchase a hunting license in Montana. Students successfully completing the class receive their hunter education certificate. All inquiries concerning this course should be referred to Debra Regan or Beth Kennedy.
