Piranhas swim laps around the competition

CONRAD- The Piranhas of Plains continued improving their performances during the swim meet in Conrad over the weekend. The team has only one more competition before the state meet in Sidney. The divisional tournament will take place this weekend in Hamilton.

According to coach Rachel Cremer, the team took 18 swimmers to Conrad with 12 team members making it to the finals. The Piranhas saw some standout performances from several team members that consistently rise to the occasion.

Kendra Newman earned her first High Point Trophy by taking first place in the girls 9 to 10 year old 50-meter freestyle, the 50-meter butterfly and the 50-meter breaststroke. Newman also set a pool record with her time of 34.37 seconds in the 50-meter freestyle.

Grace Alexander had a solid meet placing first in the girls 11 to 12 year old 50-meter backstroke, second in the 100-meter freestyle and third in the 50-meter freestyle event.

Isaac Cremer also performed well taking third place in both the boys 11 to 12 year old 50-meter freestyle and breaststroke events.

“We had a terrific meet,” said Cremer. “We are looking forward to traveling to Hamilton this weekend for Divisionals. Swimmers that place in the top 12 will advance to the state meet the following weekend in Sidney.”
