Richard “Dick” Blanchard

Dick passed away July 16, 2013 of congestive heart failure, at the Polson Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was 77 years young.

Dick was born May 17, 1936 in Libby, MT to Ferris and Doris Blanchard.

On August 28, 1955 he married Germaine Leir in Libby, MT. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Cori and Layne. They lived in Plains for 31 years, then moved to Hot Springs, MT in 1986.

Dick wore many hats. He had many occupations. The one he liked best was that of a cowboy. He loved his horses, riding, roping, and chasing those ornery cows down the road. There’s no doubt that is what he is doing now. Eager to get back in the saddle.

Dick is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Germaine of Hot Springs, MT.

Daughter Cori (Ric) Lamb of Malta, MT, son Layne (Debbie) of Missoula, MT, brothers Robert of Missoula, MT, Fred (Billie Jo) of Gresham, OR. Bill (DelvaRae) of White Sulphur Springs, MT. Grandsons Seth Prestwich, of Redwood, WA, Dusty Prestwich, Malta, MT. Greatgrandsons, Trey and Roan Prestwich. Also nieces and nephews.

Dick’s parents and grandparents, Neil and Ethel Blanchard preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Grogan Funeral Home of Polson, MT, is in charge of arrangements.
