Death at Wild Horse Hot Springs deemed suspicious

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the suspicious death of an Elmo man, who died at Wild Horse Hot Springs late Saturday night on May 25.

Shortly after 9 p.m., Lake County 911 received a call from a male who was requesting an ambulance for 28-year-old Laurence Kenmille, Lake County Undersheriff Dan Yonkin said.

It was reported that Kenmille had fallen and hit his head, but the sheriff’s department is investigating inconsistencies in the case, Yonkin said, although he was mum on what those are because the investigation is open. Yonkin did say two other people were with Kenmille at the time of his death, but wouldn’t comment on if alcohol was present at the scene.

Hot Springs ambulance transported Kenmille to Clark Fork Valley Medical Center in Plains, where he was pronounced dead. Kenmille’s body was taken to the State Crime Lab for autopsy and final results were pending as of Tuesday afternoon. Yonkin said it could take up to several weeks to receive final results, and no official cause of death had yet been determined.

Hot Springs Police Department, Flathead Tribal Police along with Lake County deputies, responded to the scene. The Sander’s County coroner’s office is currently assisting with the investigation.

No arrests have been made.
