| June 12, 2013 9:05 AM

Richard “Dick” George Reichert passed away unexpectedly at age 69 on May 29th at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena, Montana.

Dick was born to George Elmer and Idabelle Davy Reichert in Page, North Dakota on May 20, 1944 during the Second World War. He started life on a small farm in North Dakota where he had many memories of times with family and friends. His parents moved to Helena in the early 50’s. He remembered the night “Quake Lake” was formed and talked about how his bed shook so hard that it almost tossed him onto the floor.

He attended Helena schools where he met his first wife Diane Berg. Richard and Diane were married on August 23, 1961 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and divorced on February 28, 1979. They had two children: Richard Alan Reichert (Betty) and Jody Lynn Stonebrook (Darren). Richard and the family moved to Plains, MT where he worked at the Diehl Lumber Co. sawmill till it closed. He spent a brief time as a Police Officer in West Yellowstone before moving back to Plains and going to work at the Flodin Lumber Mill in Thompson Falls as a Planer Operator.

In 1991 he moved to Townsend to work for RY Timber as a Planer Man / Lead Person where he worked until his retirement in 2011. He was always proud of his crews’ ability to exceed production limits of other shifts.

In 2009, Dick met his current wife Rita and married his “flatlander” on September 3, 2011 in Hot Springs, MT. Rita brought three children to the marriage: Kelly Kallenbach, Lucas Kallenbach and Holly Wendt (Bryan). They were his bonus kids.

Richard is survived by his wife Rita, daughter Jody, Kelly Kallenbach, Lucas Kallenbach, Holly Wendt (Bryan). He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Amanda Wing, Anthony Stonebrook, Isaac Stonebrook, Cody Reichert (Trista), Makayla Reichert, Tracy Haddon, Brianna Reichert, and Tucker Wendt. Two great grandchildren: Brooke Wing and Jarred Reichert.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Richard, and his brother Ronald.

Richard was an avid outdoorsman. He spent many days with his family backpacking, fishing, hunting, rafting and going on picnics. In his last years, he was able to share his love for the outdoors with Rita and their family. They spent many happy hours in the mountains teaching her to shoot, ride 4-wheeler, sight game and picnicking.

Per his wishes there will not be a traditional funeral. There will be a Memorial Service at the Eagles Club on Friday, June 14th from 1-5 p.m. to celebrate the life of this incredible man who was loved dearly by all who knew him. Please visit www.aswfuneralhome.com to offer the family condolences or to share a memory of Richard.
