UPDATE (June, 20 7:00PM): ST. REGIS - Montana Highway Patrol Investigators were at the home where Wednesday evening a domestic disturbance call resulted in the death of a male suspect.

Mineral County Sheriff Ernie Ornelas said the investigation has been turned over to the The Montana Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation.

Throughout the day, investigators worked at the scene and also conducted a "Total Station" of the area where the incident occurred.

A "Total Station" is traditionally used at scenes of car accidents and involves the use of surveying tools to create a forensics map of the area.

DCI is expected to release more information tomorrow and the Mineral Independent will continue to follow the story as it develops.

ST. REGIS - A spokesperson for the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed a male suspect is dead as the result of an officer-involved shooting tonight in St. Regis.

The spokesperson said officers were paged out to a domestic disturbance call Tuesday evening and in the course of the response shots were fired, resulting in the death.

The incident is still under investigation and the Mineral Independent will release updates as information becomes available.
