A soldier with the Army National Guard returned from service overseas in Afghanistan on Tuesday and reunited with her husband Trevor Sheridan, also a soldier with the Guard. Dillon Sheridan entered the service in 2010. She hadn’t seen her husband since November 2012 when he returned to Plains ahead of her. Both Dillon and Trevor served in the same unit, the 484th military police unit and actually met and were married overseas.
According to Trevor, “we didn’t want to wait till we got back. We were hoping to have a real ceremony when we got back.”
Introduced in Malta where the U.S. military maintains a presence at a NATO base and married in Afghanistan, the Sheridans will enjoy at least a year of each other’s company before they qualify for redeployment. The Sheridans were part of the same military police unit joining other Sanders County residents Jonathan Zigler and Tyler Anderson who returned to Montana on the same flight as Dillon.
“I can’t wait. It’s amazing having her home. It’s been too long,” said Trevor. He also said they will have the opportunity to have a real honeymoon.
Trevor and members of the family drove all the way to Billings to pick Dillon up from the airport. They planned on returning to Plains early in the week.
