THOMPSON FALLS – The Bluehawks golf team participated in their own invitational on Saturday, getting second place with a final team score of 339, just two points behind the winning team.

Caleb Bates scored 79 points and took third overall for the golfers at the meet out of the ten teams golfing. Jacob Smith had 85 points and took tenth overall, while senior Tyler Bates scored 86 points and Ross Dalby and Dalton Hooten both brought in 89 points.

Head Coach Gary Thompson said he was proud of his seniors.

“They both improved quite a bit for sure,” said Coach Thompson. “I was pleased overall. If we can keep players in the 80s or better, we’ll be in good shape.”

The two girls on the team, Abby Croft and Niki Burwig also saw some tournament time with Croft shooting 122 points and Burwig ending with 161 points.

On Thursday, May 4 the team will travel to Deer Lodge for another tournament and are hoping for the best, like always.

“We’re still hoping we can come in second or maybe first in both tournaments,” said Coach Thompson talking about the Deer Lodge Invitational, and the St. Regis tournament, which takes place on May 9.

“We keep improving and we need to peak at the right time,” said Coach Thompson.
