On an obstacle laced course on Saturday, the Plains golf team battled fast greens, sand traps, and fairways lined with pine trees as they competed in the Thompson Falls Invitational on the banks of the Noxon Reservoir.

The team struggled a bit as the majority of the team had never played the course before and the amount of obstruction from the scenic rows of trees provided a few headaches along the way.

For Plains, Dallas Burgess shot 90 with Cole Benson not far behind with a score of 99. Jade LaDeaux shot a 124 while Alan Ihms scored a 132. Hanna Hardcastle rounded out the day with a score of 144.

“It was kind of a tough day. It’s a tough course,” said Coach Magera. “We will be practicing our short game next week. They are improving and most importantly, having fun.”

Magera said the team will have another challenge ahead of them as they gear up for the Deer Lodge Invitational on May 4.

“It’s a tight course with some water. There are really nice greens on that course. It’ll be interesting. They’ll have fun,” said Magera.

The Horsemen will also be headed to the Seeley Swan Invitational on Tuesday, May 7.
