THOMPSON FALLS – The Lady Hawks swept Troy in their last home game, coming up with two wins of 7 to 6 and 17 to 3.

The first game was a close one, with Kelsey Fitchett pulling in the win for the team.

“It was a very good game. We had clutch hitting by Kelsey Fitchett with girls on second and third. She had a single and scored two points and that put us ahead seven to six,” said Head Coach Randy Pirker.

Fitchett had two RBIs with Acacia Eaton and Erica Sorlie for scorers.

Maddy Fitchett’s pitching helped secure the win as well as Eaton’s first ever home run over the fence.

Sorlie also played a major part in the game. Sorlie went three for four with two singles and a double.

In the second game, the ladies were able to pull out 14 points ahead of Troy.

In a game full of errors on Troy’s side, the ladies brought their all and finished with a win.

Kelsey Fitchett went five for five with three singles and two doubles and had three RBIs. Maddy Fitchett went two for five with two RBIs and Kaylie Cox went two for four with two RBIs.

“It felt really good. It was nice with the 7 to 6 win – I felt like it was the first complete game we played,” said Coach Pirker saying they pitched, hit and ran the bases well.

“We actually won in the bottom of the sixth. We scored the runs and we had to hold them in the top of the seventh,” said Coach Pirker.

The girls secured the three outs needed and the inning went well for the Lady Hawks defensively.

The team goes on to play Florence in a double header on May 9. Up against the number one team in the conference, the Lady Hawks plan to give it their all.

“In (softball) anything can happen. We just need to have luck come our way and have the balls come our way,” said Coach Pirker.

Then the team has a tournament in Butte on Friday and Saturday, playing one game Friday and two on Saturday.

Thompson Falls is currently in the 7th position conference wise and the play-in games next Tuesday will help decide who plays in the six-team tournament.

The Lady Hawks will play the 6th seed and if they win they will earn a place in the tournament.
