Savage Heat track and field competes in Laurel

HOT SPRINGS - The Hot Springs Savage Heat boys track and field team scorched the field over the weekend in Laurel during the Class C State Track and Field Meet.

The men from Hot Springs tied for seventh with a score of 22.

Anthony Byrns took fourth in the 200-meter race with a time of 23.26 seconds.

The 4X100 meter relay team of Byrns, Dave Cross, Mike Gray and Wyatt Nagy placed second with a time of 45.05.

The 1600-meter relay team of Cross, Nagy, Gray and Jimmy Holland took fourth with a time of 3.33.80.

Cross also placed third in the shot put with a heave of 47 feet even.

Tanner Hoff placed in the javelin while Nagy and Jarod White placed seventh and ninth respectively in the triple jump.

“They did really well,” said coach Vicki Nytes. “It was a very exciting meet and I think this was one of the highest finishes we’ve had in a long time. It was a great meet.”

The state meet marked the end of the Savage Heat’s track season and will be losing three seniors: Dave Cross, Wyatt Nagy, Michael Gray.

Cross, Nagy and Gray proved to be powerful athletes for the Savage Heat.
