Ivan C. Carlson

Colorado Springs, Colorado - Former Superior resident Ivan Carlson, 48, passed away Saturday, October 19 of complications due to cancer.

Ivan was born in the old hospital in Superior May 24, 1965. He grew up in Superior enjoying his family and friends. He went to grade school at the old elementary building, he loved his teachers, classmates and friends. He enjoyed Boy Scouts, Sons of the Legions, Bible School, fishing and boating on Lake Mary Ronan each summer with his family and riding his motorcycle up the trails on Flatcreek.

Some of Ivan’s hometown jobs included Page Setting and Layout for the local newspaper, Boxboy at Castles, clearing creek bottoms, building fire trails and fighting forest fires.

Ivan graduated from Superior High School May of 1983 and registered for Selective Service June 11, 1983. He went on to further his education at Montana State University where he studied computer science for two years, later he was a first semester graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and electronic Engineering Technology.

He met Cheryl Wells in 1991, they were married in Bozeman and shortly moved to LeRoy, NY where Ivan was the Senior System Manager for Western Regional OTB Corporation in Batavia, NY. In 2007 they moved to Colorado Springs where Ivan was Data Base Engineer for Experian in Denver.

Ivan is survived by his wife Cheryl, Colorado Springs, two sons Michael, 21, of Boulder, CO, Alexander, 19, in the Navy and one daughter Madeline, 16, at home. His mother Leah Carlson of Superior, two brothers, Curt of Superior and Elliott of Columbia Falls, one step-brother Jim Lagerquist of Hoquim, WA. Chuck and Joan Wells of Colorado Springs, Michelle and Erich Meyer of Colorado Springs. Aunts and Uncles, numerous cousins, several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.

Ivan was proceeded in death by his brother Clifford and his step-father Bob Lagerquist.

Goodbye little brother and friend, we will miss you greatly.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. in the Assembly of God Church. Relatives and friends are invited to the service and the luncheon following the memorial service.
