SUPERIOR – The Superior Lady Bobcats beat Arlee and Noxon to take fourth place in the district tournament last weekend, unfortunately ending their season early.

On Friday’s game against Noxon, the girls played a strong game. While Noxon kept close, the Lady Bobcats were able to keep ahead and consistently won with strong leads.

All the girls did well during the game. Juniors Jordan Mueller and Makenzie Stager both got four aces with Mueller also making all of the game’s 15 assists. Senior Michelle Smith got seven of the 10 kills.

The game against the Arlee Scarlets was incredibly close. Superior won in four sets. The final set went into overtime as the scores consistently stayed close.

Jordan Mueller made an impressive show with 23 of the game’s 24 assists. Smith continued to do well as she and sophomore Marissa Koke both got seven kills. Koke also ranked four of the five blocks.

For their final game against Charlo, the Lady Bobcats fought hard but ended up being defeated in five sets. The girls fought hard and kept the game close. In all of the sets, the winning team managed to take a strong lead through to the end.

Against Charlo, Smith recorded an impressive 13 digs. Koke had a good match and made eight kills and three blocks while Mueller continued to dominate in a support role with 21 assists.

The Lady Bobcats played well during Friday’s game, but were defeated by Hot Springs on Saturday. Stats for the game were unavailable at the time of press.

Head Coach Beth Janney said the girls played their best during the weekend. She described the improvements she had seen in the girls, both individually and as a team, as amazing.

According to Janney, throughout the entire season the Lady Bobcats grew as a team and came together to support each other.

“I could not be more proud of them and how they played all season, as well as this weekend,” said Janney. “They fought hard every single game and they never gave up.”

While disappointed at their elimination during the regional tournament, Janney said she felt all the girls played well during the weekend. She said everyone on the team stood out on the stat sheets and their performances were anything but disappointing.
