Superior Lions Club commence annual toy drive

| November 27, 2013 1:09 PM

It’s time again to kick off the Christmas Season. There are several events taking place in the communities of Mineral County that are crucial in reaching our goal of a happy holiday season for all.

The Mineral County Toy Drive is sponsored by Women in Timber. There will be trees at six locations around the county. We ask that you pull a tag from the tree and purchase a gift for the child of that gender and age. Please keep the cost of each present at around $10.00. Please return the unwrapped presents to any of the participating businesses or locations listed below. Tape the tag to the present and return by 6:00 PM on December 20th so they can be wrapped and ready for Santa to deliver. The trees are located at:

Castles Market      St. Regis Gift Shop      Wells Fargo    Alberton Library & Senior Center

Jackie’s Home Cookin’    Town Pump      Mineral Pharmacy      This & That Consignment

To help gather items for the Holiday Food Baskets, Women In Timber will be collecting non-perishable food items. Bring them in any Tuesday or Friday between November 13th and December 13th. Women In Timber is open those days from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

On  Saturdays November 30th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., one of Santa’s Helpers will be out and about in Superior accepting cash donations to help pay for food and presents to help The Lions Club fill Santa’s Sleigh.

Also on December 7th, Women In Timber will be sponsoring the “Parent’s Table” at the Superior Masonic Temple from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Children can come inside, no parents allowed, and select free presents for their parents or guardians. Volunteers will be there to help the children wrap their selections so they to will be able to share in the excitement and joy of giving on Christmas morning.

We hope as many of you as possible will help us reach our goal and make certain all children have a special Christmas dinner and a present under their tree.
