MCH warns of health risk

| November 29, 2013 2:12 PM

MINERAL COUNTY - The Superior ambulance arrives at the doors of Mineral hospital with CPR in progress or ventilations, air pumped into a persons lungs to continue life. Tubes are passed, medications administered, vomit suctioned from the unbreathing individuals airway and lungs.  They remain comatose, unresponsive requiring oxygen and medications to keep their ability to breathe going.

Hours pass, will they have organ damage from the time without sufficient oxygen, will they have had a stroke from lack of oxygen and blood to their brain?  Some are transferred via Lifeflight to ICU’s where ventilators, breathing machines pump air in and out of their lungs.  Others admitted to watch for brain swelling and liver function.  Drugs to counteract are administered as families pray for a positive outcome.

The cause you ask,  it remains unclear but it has been proven that all these individuals have ingested a drug that contains methadone in the hours before their breathing stops.  Methadone is a very potent pain medication that lasts over 24 hours in the body.  It is supplied in liquid and tablet formation and is very dangerous to the opoid nieve person.

Please help us help you.  Do not take prescription medications un prescribed for you.  Do not experiment at parties with medications.  Do not leave your beverages unwatched at events and parties where they can be tampered with.   The next patient may not have bystanding CPR,  EMS called, or assistance when their unknown substance takes affect.  Help us save lives, don’t let this scenario be you!
