Cancer Network of Sanders County to host event

| October 2, 2013 10:54 AM

PLAINS - Cancer Network of Sanders County invites everyone to come to the 12th Annual Fall Fundraising event – “Brats, Hops & Grapes,” on Saturday, October 5 at the Sanders County Fairgrounds Pavilion from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.. There will be a silent auction, a live auction, and plenty of food, wine and beer for all. It is, however, a night for the adults as you must be 21 to attend.

We have several featured activities planned for the evening. Before and during dinner, we will be entertained by Mr. Troy De Roche, a musician and Native American flute maker. Mr. De Roche has played in such venues as the Leeds Playhouse in Leeds, England; featured artist at the MAC Theater in Birmingham, England, and the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is renowned not only as a musical artist but also makes flutes and composes his own music.

Another feature for the evening is one of the items in the live auction. This year, one of our ardent supporters has donated a 1960s model Mannliker-Schoenauer 30-06 rifle. The rifle is in tip-top condition and is surely a prime candidate for anyone who is a gun collector. The CNSC plans to most likely put a reserve price on the piece to make certain it brings what it is worth. Two local gun dealers have appraised the rifle for CNSC so we can sell it for a fair price. If you are interested, please come. This might be a once in a lifetime opportunity for you to get a great addition to your collection.

Once again, Mr. Kevin Hill will be our auctioneer. Both Hill and De Roche have volunteered their talents to make our evening a fun and profitable time.

Moore Transportation in Thompson Falls has arranged to bring a bus to the event again this year. The bus will arrive at the Thompson Falls High School around 5:15 p.m. and will plan to leave around 5:25 p.m.. Anyone is welcome to ride the bus, just show up at the high school.

Tickets are available at Garden Gift & Floral in Plains, and D & D Liquor in Thompson Falls. Tickets may also be purchased at the door that evening. Tickets are $30 per person. If you have any questions about the event, please call Kathy at 826-4278 or e-mail at pln4278@blackfoot.net.
