Lady Red Devils come away with a win against Hot Springs

NOXON – The Lady Red Devils took on the Lady Savage Heat once again, clashing with their rival team in hopes of taking revenge and coming out on top of the competition this time.

In an earlier game in the season Hot Springs beat Noxon but this time the tables turned and Noxon defeated the Lady Savage Heat team.

The Lady Red Devils swept Hot Springs 3 to 0 (25 to 7, 25 to 14 and 25 to 12).

According to Noxon’s Head Coach Teri Wilkinson, Hot Springs was missing part of their team and the competition would have really heated up if all of their competitors were present.

“If they would have had their full team there, it probably would have gone to five games,” said Coach Wilkinson.

Junior Tierrah Camara played a good game for Noxon, remaining consistent throughout the match. The setter brought in the most kills of the evening.

The Lady Red Devils then went on to compete in the Arlee Tournament, which hosted 16 teams.

The tournament was set up in two phases – the morning consisting of pool play and the afternoon advancing into a single elimination tournament.

Noxon made it to the elimination tournament and in ninth place faced off the competitor in the eighth place spot, Seeley Swan. Unable to come up with a win, Noxon was out of the tournament, a tournament that proved to go by quickly because each set played up to 15 points.

Overall Coach Wilkinson said the team played well, especially for staying up late during their homecoming festivities the night before.

Freshman middle hitter Nicole Zavoianu had a solid performance at the Arlee tournament, remaining consistent throughout the games and adding some good hits to the team’s total.

Due to a rescheduled game, the ladies will face St. Regis on Thursday and again on Friday. The Thursday game will take place in St. Regis, while the Friday night game will take place in Noxon.

The back-to-back games will provide the girls with a chance to display their skills and will give them multiple opportunities to come out on top.

The games against St. Regis may prove to be challenging.

“I watched them this weekend and I’m expecting it to be a tough game. We’re going to do a lot of hitting and hope to get out hits in,” said Coach Wilkinson.
