Plains Horsemen continue to make strides during season
TROY – The Horsemen of Plains continue to meet some of their goals stated at the outset of the 2013 season. One of those goals was for the football team to put points on the board against opponents. Despite a loss at Troy on Friday, the team did manage to bounce back after halftime and score two touchdowns, one on the ground and one through the air.
Head Coach Juan Lulack said he spoke to the team at halftime with the score 45 to zero and asked them what they wanted to do in the second half.
“One of our goals is to score points in every game,” said Lulack. “The team said they wanted to put some points on the board.”
That is exactly what the Horsemen of Plains did in the second half. Trent Brouillette passed for one touchdown while Logan Goodwin rushed for the second score. Two-point conversions on both touchdowns were successful, the first coming from Alex Cole and the second from Nick Barnes.
Despite the eventual loss, Coach Lulack said the team did manage to meet objectives the team has worked toward all season.
“We did a better job in the air. We had very few penalties,” said Lulack. “It was hard to rush on that team. We had better luck in the air.”
The next game for the Plains football team will be Friday against cross county rival Thompson Falls during the 2013 Homecoming celebration. Coach Lulack said the Horsemen will have to adjust during the game against a team that could pose challenges for Plains.
“They’ve played some tough teams,” said Lulack. “We will make our adjustments to the plays they are running. We will go over film and prepare the same way we always do.”
