PLAINS – The Horsemen played in their Homecoming game last Friday against their rival Thompson Falls.

Plains worked up to the game all week with homecoming activities – the theme focusing on Hunger Games. But with all the efforts to pump the team up, the Horsemen did not come up with a win. The game ended with a final score of 42 to 14, with Thompson Falls taking the victory.

Plains started off early in the game with success. Senior James Rulison carried the ball for a touchdown.

Getting off to an early start, the Horsemen went for the two-point conversion to try to get some added points to their total, however, they were unsuccessful.

As the Bluehawks took control of the ball, Jake Smith carried it down the field, gaining 21 yards at first with Horseman Ben Gorham stopping him. Smith again got control of the ball and went for another 13 yards.

Despite Smith’s efforts the Bluehawks were unable to get enough yards under their belt and punted the ball down the field.

Once the Horsemen took back control of the ball, play was slow with not much progress being made. Quarterback Nick Barnes was sacked off the line and Thompson Falls took over on their 37-yard line.

With the ball in the Bluehawks’ possession, Nate Norris caught the ball and ran it 62 yards for a touchdown, evening out the game 7 to 6.

Bluehawk McKenzie Holt was unhappy that the Horsemen now had possession of the ball and intercepted it.

As Thompson Falls took over, Norris scored another touchdown, stretching the score to 13 to 6.

In the second quarter, Holt had another two interceptions but the Horsemen were not going to let them take all the glory and freshman Alec Cole pulled in an interception for Plains.

A number of penalties plagued both teams as the game moved forward but Norris remained focused on the game and got another interception to add to Thompson Falls’ total.

In the third quarter Tanner Laws got his team off on the right foot and scored a touchdown, the score sitting at 21 to 6.

Norris added another touchdown for Thompson with less than two seconds left in the quarter.

The fourth quarter started off with penalties but the players took control for the last section of the game.

Holt would score another touchdown.

Both the Horsemen and the Bluehawks would find it in themselves for one more run into the end zone, each bringing home points. The final score of the night was 42 to 14, with Thompson Falls taking the win.

The next game for Thompson Falls will be against Ronan at a home game on October 11, while Plains will go on to compete against Troy on October 12 away from home.
