Plains adds sign to honor state champions
PLAINS – Recently two signs were put up at the entrances to Plains, praising the girl’s state track champions and those who came before them.
Head Coach of track, Denise Montgomery said she wanted to reward the girls for their hard work by putting up a sign to recognize their amazing feat and dedication.
After working together with Randy Garrison at The Printery, the two were able to come up with a design.
The Plains/Paradise Chamber approved the addition of the signs, solidifying the project.
“Part of it is to draw attention to our championship track team,” said Montgomery. “I wanted the girls to feel special and honored for the fact that they are state champions – it’s a huge deal.”
When Montgomery shared her idea, Debbie Kirschbaum had the thought to include all of the Plains champions on the sign.
“It was a great idea, a good suggestion and it needed to be done,” said Montgomery.
Montgomery said Garrison donated his time to the project and the sign was purchased by the Booster Club.
“Our sign is awesome,” said Montgomery.
Both Montgomery and Garrison helped install the signs with the added help of Montgomery’s son, Riley.
The signs were placed on both sides of town so they could not be missed.
Together the trio placed the signs letting all those who enter Plains know that this is indeed the home of champions.
