Pauline Marie (Stewart) Terry

Pauline Marie Terry, 93, of La Grande, died at Grande Ronde Retirement Residence on Monday October 14, 2013. A celebration of life service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 19th at the United Methodist Church in Elgin. Daniels - Knopp Funeral Center is in charge of the arrangements.

Pauline was born on October 10, 1910, in Enterprise, Oregon, to Andrew and Bessie (Daggett) Stewart. She graduated from Joseph High School in 1938, where she met and married Clifford Eugene Terry on May 26, 1940. They moved to Elgin and raised five children. Pauline was bookkeeper and gopher for Terry Logging, Inc. and Terry Ranch, Inc.

She was also active in Eastern Star, Pythian Sisters, and the United Methodist Church in Elgin. She was well known for singing at many events.

A Plains, MT resident from 1963 to 1972, she helped institute Plains TOPS Club and was active in Eastern Star here.

She loved to draw, paint, write poetry, read, and was especially good at crossword puzzles. She could drive anything except a D8 Cat.

Survivors include her son, Steven Terry, and wife Lillian, of Baker City, Oregon, daughter Elaine Calame, and husband Ed, of Pendleton, Oregon, son, Paul Terry, and wife Jeanne, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, daughter Edith Whisennand, and husband Charlie, of Plains, Montana, son Rodney Terry, and wife Emelda, of Elgin, Oregon.

18 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren, many Great Grandchildren, and step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, and brothers, Kenneth, and Aaron.

Internment will be at the Elgin Cemetery.
