Lions Club offers Halloween fun
PLAINS – The Plains Lion’s Club will be hosting their annual Halloween party at the Fred Young Park on Thursday evening.
The event has happened for as long as any of the club members can remember, although a specific year remains to be unknown.
Lion’s Club Secretary Ken Mathieson hopes the skies will stay clear for the event.
The party will start at 6 p.m. and the Lion’s Club will have free hot dogs for those in attendance. The costume contest will be judged by the Clark Fork Valley Press at 6:30 p.m. Awards will be awarded to the best costumes of the bunch.
According to Plains/Paradise Chamber of Commerce President, Carol Day, the annual Trick or Trunk event has been canceled for this year due to a lack of volunteers. After spearheading the event with her husband for the last three years, the two were unable to do so this year and no one stepped up to the plate to take it over.
However, the local businesses will remain open for trick or treating from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
“It’s received by the community awesomely and we’re trying to keep those kids safe,” said Day.
